Dynamic Response of Metallic Foams Bumper with Morphology Design Variation in ABAQUS Software Simulation

Variation design of open-cell foams located in the bumper car were investigated this paper. A brief experimental result on dynamic response crash was focused energy absorption and deformation behavior. The based typical compared with gradual density hexagonal foam type. method used imitate crashing real behavior explicit using ABAQUS simulation software some extra constraint, such as: object direction. Results showed strongly affect value deformation. Energy higher hexagon compare to normal structure 4.8740 E6 Joule 4.8572 respectively. Furthermore, highest by simulated redesign into varying thickness (gradual density) – similar cortical bone 4.950 Joule. Meanwhile shows 4 cm translation after crashed. Expected has be safe for passengers have high ability absorb minimize movement.
